I read other reviews of this item with some skepticism. I mean, could it really be as good as some people claimed? Yes it is. It is by far and away the best blade I've ever used in my miter saw. I've used it so far to cut cherry for a cabinet I'm building and I still can't believe how smooth the cuts are. Although I have not tried to finish a cut edge, from the look and feel of the cut there is no need to sand the cut edges. This blade is worth every penny that I paid for it.

I have this blade installed on my Grizzly 1023s. The quality of cut is incredible compared to blades in the $30-$50 dollar range that I have used before. I have used in on pine, ash and birch plywood and it cuts each without difficulty and no split out. The edges look as though they were sanded the cut is so smooth.

I have had this blade for a few months now and have used it to cut over 400 bd ft of hardwood (mostly walnut) with a Bosch 4000 portable Job-site table saw. I have used many different blades on this saw over the years (freud thin, Dewalt woodworker, etc etc) and this is the best blade I have ever used for this type of saw. The thin kerf is perfect for under powered saws. Now for my 3 hp Jet TS I use a full kerf blade (forrest is great as is the freud fusion) because the thicker metal is more stable and leaves a cleaner cut. I highly recommend this blade for ALL portable saws and any saw with less then 1 1/2 hp. It makes a very clean cut in both cross cuts and rips. This blade excels at cutting hardwoods and is worth the higher price.

I buy this woodworker II 10" 40 tooth 3/64" kerf & dampener on Amazon.com

I cut & rip softwood & hardwood. The cut is a lot smoother with this blade comparing to Bosch blade shipped w/ 4000-09 table saw.



Price range is around $70-100.

Although it's a thin kerf 3/64" compare to 1/8" of original Bosch blade, the carbide teeth is at least 2x bigger. You can resharpen this blade several times.



The joint between carbide teeth and the steel is kind of rusty when I receive it. The teeth is protected by vinyl during S&H. I may send email to Forrest to ask why. I don't see it's affect the cut quality. Just wonder why it's like that on brand new blade.

I have been a huge fan of Forrest blades, using them almost exclusively, but when I bought a second Woodworker I so I would have something to use while the other one is being sharpenned, I was greatly disappointed with what I received. The center bore was tighter than normal and all the cuts burned. I may be willing to pay twice the price for the quality, but the company better work twice as hard on quality control.



Amazon sent me a replacement, which I haven't tried yet, but I hope this isn't a sign that Forrest has gotten too big for itself. I'll jump ship if this happens again.

This is quality. The blade works like a hot knife to butter, enhances the cutting power of your machine. Freud nor Amana come close to this. It is pricey; double what a Freud blade would cost. Though you can send this back to the manufacturer for a resharpening at a smaller cost than a new blade.

I now will have to have it resharpened, my fault,I did not scan first, cutting some "old salvaged" 2 x 4 and just happened to get into some dry wall screws. I've used this blade on a big kitchen's worth of pre-finished maple ply (~31 cabinet boxes)plus backs, plus drawer bottoms - plus a handful of melamine projects before. Both rip and crosscuts are clean with almost no tear out on the bottom. I've used panel saws with a scoring blade and this does about 95% as good a cut. Unless you're ready to spring for an Altendorf, this is the way to go.



It's also worth pointing out the less obvious moral to the story here: while there are some good general purpose blades (I also have a couple of Forrest Woodworker II blades - I like 'em) any time you use a general purpose blade you're making a compromise. When I built my workbench I bought a specific ripping blade - a Freud Glue Line - to rip a heck of a lot of 2" maple. The overall performance - speed of cut, lack of saw marks - was just better than the Woodworker II. While there are times when a general purpose blade is the way to go, if you're doing a bunch of similar cuts, you'll be much happier if you spring for a little more cash and blade changing time and use a purpose desinged blade.

I am making my own kitchen cabinets with Red Oak and ¾ inch prefinished birch plywood. After many frustrating attempts to rip and cross cut the prefinished plywood with other manufactures blades without any lifting and splintering, I decided to try a Forrest Duraline HI-AT 10" 80 tooth blade. I have a Jet 10-inch 3hp cabinet saw and rechecked all table to blade dimensions, splitter and fence settings to the new blade, no adjustment were needed.

Wow, what a blade. Sharp, smooth, quiet no drag, no vibration (my zero clearance doesn't walk at all) and NO lifting or splinters of the prefinished layer of the birch plywood. What a difference this blade has made in the results and woodworking pleasure. All 90 and less than 90 degree cross & rip cuts are smooth without sign of burn or vibration.

Forrest also engraves a serial number in the blade with a lifetime satisfaction warranty. Full instructions on care and sharpening. I have NEVER experienced this kind of detail from any blade manufacture. I will stick with Amana and Freud for Router bits and cutters but I will be purchasing Forrest blades from now on.

 "Best dado set on the market" 2009-08-10

This is my third Forrest product (my first was the WWII, then the Chopmaster, now the Dado King). Forrest is top of the price range in all categories of blades, but also the best quality in my opinion. The Dado King cuts bottoms that are smooth as glass, and tear out is literally non-existent. But as other reviewers here have mentioned, the dados/grooves aren't true 90 degrees. There are little Batman ears at the corners of the dado. But that is intentional, and the instructions that come with the dado set explain that. Basically, those little raised corners are what help make ultra clean sides and bottom to the groove and minimize tear-out at the end of the cut. I had a Freud SD208 Super Dado (see my review on Amazon for that)set for $90 or so, and it got the job done, but the bottoms were far from flat and there was a good amount of tear out. It was worth spending the $250 or so to upgrade to the best (Dado King)

With out a doubt the most difficult dado to cut is a cross cut of laminated material.

Most moderately price stacked dado sets cut smooth accurate dados with the grain and if you get an upper priced set you can get a smooth bottom as well. But if you turn the material 90 degrees every blade and chipper had better be `balanced' or you're going to get `chipping'.

The Forrest Dado King is a cut above the norm. It's a well `Balanced' tool that makes a clean smooth dado in either direction. With the grain it almost like using a wide blade and it's smooth across the grain as well.

Forrest makes a clean sweep in the awards ceremonies. Their Woodworker II took top honors in Fine Woodworking Magazines run off of blades. Close behind was the Freud at a quarter of the cost. Excellent for both blades on smoothness of cut, but the Forrest earned an excellent on tearout, whereas the Freud earned a very good. Well I bought both, and found the Freud to cut a surface so smooth that it was glass like. If I was going to put a finish on it, I would rough it up with 200 grit to improve the adhesion, it was that smooth. Also the Freud had absolutely no tear out, not even a little bit. Perfect is the word here. So why did I buy the Forrest Woodworker II also? Because everybody was raving about it. Forrest makes great products.
On the Dado set, I noticed the reviewers stating that their was a tiny ridge at the bottom of the dado cut, created with the Forrest. The Freud has similar results. Oddly enough the Freud creates a perfect edge when making finger joints and the like, even though when you look down into the pocket, their are miniscule ridges in the cut. Comments that the end result on the Forrest have me concerned, stating that the edge is not perfect. Is this an example of more expensive must be better syndrome?
I bought the Freud Super Dado set based on my earlier experience with their standard saw blade vs the Forrest. I'm glad I did. No matter what you buy, a good old fashioned sacrificial piece of scrap sandwiched to your work piece is your best guarantee against tear out when working with expensive woods.
If you look at the Amazon sales rank, the Freud outsells the Forrest 4 to 1. Of course anything that is less money, sells more quantity, but I just can't get beyond the "perfect" performance of the Freud. How do you improve on that?
This is not a dig on Forrest. They make first class products. Just something to consider. I hope this was helpful.

The review below notes that the bottoms of the dado are 'not flat'. Even though he still gave it four stars, I think it's important to note that this is normal for the Forrestt and was not a defective blade. The ouside blades have a scoring profile on alernate teeth that does give tiny 'batman ears' at the each corner, when the dado is viewed on end. This is why the set cuts so well in lamanated materials. But it's true that when making box joints and the like, where the profile of the dado is exposed, they will be visible.

I was looking for a great blade for my new Milwaukee 6955-20 Miter Saw (Amazing Saw by the way), and had tried a Freud Diablo, which cost around $75. It made a terrible noise, and cut a little rough, so I contacted Diablo (they said it sounded like the blade had a tension flaw) and I returned it. This Forrest blade arrived today to replace it, and WOW, what a blade. I made several cuts in plywood, and there was almost NO splintering on top or bottom, and the cut itself was smooth as glass. It works beautifully in the Milwaukee, and I'll hopefully never buy another blade that's not a Forrest - I'm hooked. Get over the sticker shock if you have it, and get the blade, you will not be disappointed, it truly is a case of getting what you pay for.

Having finished framing a room, I wanted a better quality of cut for the trim. I replaced the 60 tooth Bosch OEM blade that came on my 12 sliding compound miter saw with the 80-tooth Forrest Chopmaster. The cuts are glass-smooth, with no tearout. You can see and feel the difference between the Forrest blade's results and the cuts with the OEM saw, even though Bosch supplies a pretty good blade for framing. The Chopmaster was expensive enough to make me think twice about this vs. a Freud blade, but all the reviews have been very positive. Now I can see why.

I have 3 chopmaster blades two chop saws and one for a table saw.There very good blades but they will go dull like other less expensive blades.I rate it slightly better than my CMT blade but it cost twice as much.I like that Forrest will replace the teeth and straighten the blade but you can get very good blades for much less.
