"Best little tool I own" 2009-07-22

This the is best little tool I own. It is easy to use for my small crafting cutting needs. You can't go wrong with this for your small wood cutting projects.

 "This saw is JUNK" 2009-05-27
By William E. Gillmore
This product arrived with a wobble on the saw blade. I decided to try the other blade and see if it wobbled. I soon found out that to change the saw blade you have to disassemble the saw. To change the blade you must remove the motor as well as the safety ground, essentially every screw on the machine must be removed. Be sure the unit is unplugged as it is easy to trip the power switch, which now has the ground removed and the motor detached from the cast mount with a sort of sharp carbide blade attached. Removed the nuts to get the blade off requires two very large metric wrenches. When the saw is to be reassembled the blade must be realigned or it will cut at an angle. There is no facility for doing this except by trial and error. While doing that you will no doubt gouge the blade into the cast iron blade guard as there is almost no clearance between the blade and the cast mount.

Having discovered all that I mounted the second diamond tip blade. It wobbled too. Further investigation showed that the motor shaft was bent.

After all that there is more bad news. The saw has near zero adjustment in blade height. The adjustment is by set screw and has no method to slightly adjust, it just moves any way it wants. The saw is also noisy and rattles badly.

I regret the day I ever bought this saw. It is an unmitigated piece of [...].

 "Needs improvement" 2008-10-26
By Clayton Schwartz (Quincy, Pa. United States)
A great idea for small work, but designed poorly. High speed, but no power. Even cutting 1/4" plywood bogs it down. Blade is not true enough to do fine work. The built in blade cover prevents cutting long pieces. They will not clear the bracket for the cover. Such a great idea if designed properly.

 "Oregon 108181" 2009-09-22
By John Kraiza
I got the oregon 108181 sharpener today. Took a look at it. It couldn't change the pitch for the Pro chain I use.

I sent it back for a 511AX. More money but it will do the job I want it for.

The Oregon 108181 looks like it would be good for the home owner saw not a pro saw.

"Quick Setup - Easy to Use - Sharp Chain" 2009-09-11
By John Hisey (Wyoming)
Just received this today and sharpened 4 chains tonight - glad to see it is made in Italy instead of across the other ocean - a quality product that will save me tons on saw shop sharpening and I don't have to wait a week to get my chains back - one suggestion is to buy an extra stone to be used for grinding the depth (this stone will be shaped flat and always used for the flat grind) - the owners manual is on the Oregon Chain website if you want to read all about it before buying the grinder.

I took it out of the box, screwed it to the counter and sharpened 8 chains. It is fast, easy and very consistant compared to the dremel tool I used before.

 "Oregon nini bench grinder" 2009-04-06
By R. Creamer (Urbana, OH)
this is, in my opinion. the best alternative to the full size Oregon grinder. Easy out of box set up and ease of use make it a great tool.

All of the fixtures fit tight with no unnecessary movement. Quiet running, easy adjustments to fine tune the sharpening process without overheating the chain thus taking the temper out of it. Highly recommend it. Kind of pricey but worth the investment..
