 "used for installing S.I.P.S." 2009-05-15
By Derek Meier (Comfort, TX USA)
First off, this attachment will convert your saw into an awkward chainsaw. I say this to remind you that chainsaws do not make pretty cuts. That being said, I use this tool for notching and cutting S.I.P.S. It works very well for this purpose, and I really can't see how a more expensive product would do a job better enough to justify the much heftier price tag.

 "Does what it says" 2008-09-16
By William S. Burt Jr. (Port Orchard, WA USA)
I installed the Prazi on my Skil "77M" and used it to cut 11 7/8" engineered floor joists to length and square. It worked beautifully! No other "beam cutter" saw could cut that wide of joist in a single pass without cutting from the side of the joist. It also allows me to stack about 5 to 6 2x rafters up and cut the bird's mouth cuts all at once. I did find that the saw causes tear-out at the top of the cut, so it is a good idea to use a utility knife to scribe a line just outside the limits of the cut to prevent that.

The chain is essentially a chain saw so the cut is not as smooth as I might like, but, this is a unit for framing not finish carpentry.

Once you have installed the unit on your saw, you are able to remove it and re-install it as necessary pretty quickly. However, it does take some time and you should "group" your cuts to reduce the number of "changeovers" you need to make.

I found some chain saw bar oil, worked into the chain frequently seemed to help the system run smoother than just lubricating the tip, as recommended in the manual.

All-in-all an innovative and well-made product.

"Great Addition to any Toolbox!" 2008-06-02
By Thomas J. Worker (Corona, California)
We used this to straight cut 6" beams, and 45' angles on 4" planks with ease. It was easy to assemble onto the Skil Saw and handled nicely.

However, since it's a chainsaw type system that needs to be oiled occasionally, a bottle with a very fine tip needs to be used to oil the chain sprocket as the oil hole in the arm is quite small. The bottle is not included but should be.

Additionally, it would be well worth the additional $20 to get the storage bag since it's shipping box will not last long to store the unit, and with the chain exposed, protection is needed to keep the chain from being damaged during transport and storage.

Overall a great, unique product that is reasonably priced. A must for any toolbox!

"Paid for itself on the first job." 2007-08-30
By J. Schwitters (Knoxville, TN United States)
After reading other reviews I was afraid to by this but I'm very pleased with the saw! I put it on a new Skil worm drive by simply removing the saw guard from the worm drive saw and attaching the Prazi in minutes. Other reviewers said that you are limited to a few saws and that's bull. This cuts clean and faster than a 15" saw and rolling the timbers to cut again. GREAT PRODUCT!!

Fit for table saws, this set speeds up joint cutting by eliminating the need for shims and adjustments.
Strong, Precise Box Joints in Minutes
The SBOX8 makes box-joint construction fast and simple for professional cabinetmakers and weekend woodworkers alike. This joint-cutter set, which features two eight-inch, 20-tooth blades with 5/8-inch arbors, is designed to help you achieve accurate box joints every time. By simply attaching this set's blades to a table saw, you can produce perfectly square cuts, so joints fit securely together for a flush, strong hold.

With this method, you'll eliminate the need for dado sets or saw blades, which often require shims and adjustments. The result is an attractive finished workpiece and quick job turnaround.

MicroGrain Carbide Tips for Long-Lasting Performance
So you can get maximum performance out of this set, the blade components are constructed with Freud's TiCo Hi-Density Carbide. This means the blades can withstand numerous sharpenings and still retain their precision. And a Tri-metal Brazing process gives the blades impact resistance, so they last for the long term without dulling (a condition that can cause torn wood and uneven cuts).

As expected with Freud products, the box joint cutter did not disappoint me. Great tool, simple to use and once the jig is tuned, it performs to perfection. No real surprise here.

The box joint cutter is a high quality tool and appears to have the ability to produce numerous cuts without need to be resharpened. The cut is absolutely square and with very little if any tearout, I back up the cut in oak with extra material and no tearout is noticed. This tool absolutely meets all my expectations.

 "Perfect cuts!" 2008-09-21
By David K. Dalpezzo (Glen Rock, PA)
I bought this blade set to give me a perfectly square (flat) miter for a spline key.

I'm building interior shutters for my windows - lower half of the window, hammered glass shutters (to let light in while providing privacy). My frame for the shutter is 2.25" oak with a channel for the glass and using 45 degree miter cuts on the corners. A very weak joint for this.

I needed to strengthen the joints with the spline key, but finding a blade that cut square was impossible. All of the teeth cut angles, and this leaves a "V" shaped base on the cut. Also, I needed 1/4" for the cut, not 1/8 which a normal blade would provide.

I have the Excalibur dado blade from Craftsman (do they make these anymore?) but that also doesn't cut a perfectly square channel. I really didn't want to invest $100+ in another dado blade (one with two outside blades using extra blades between them to provide the width).

I researched my needs and encountered this blade. I thought it answered my needs, so I ordered it.

Note: I built a jig to hold the shutter so the corner can be cut.

The blade, using the 1/4" cut, cut the corner without any chipping or pulling when it exited the joint (oak can easily splinter if one is not careful). I was able to quickly and easily cut all 8 corners on my set of shutters and insert my splines without issue. I did wait until my cuts were made before I planed down the spline board so I was able to ensure the proper fit.

So, if you are making shutters or anything else with a 45 degree corner that needs additional support besides glue, this blade (and appropriate jig) make terrific cuts for spline keys.

Note: In shear laziness, I didn't want to change blades to rip the spline key oak after planing it to the proper thickness, so I set up my rip fence with this blade - it doesn't do a good job ripping - way too much to cut at one time. It did the job, but I won't do that again!

 "Good choice" 2008-07-03
By Philip L. Couchman (Crescent City, CA)
I used it right out of the box with the instructions for a jig and it performed as they say. I made 3 drawers for a computer desk and it only took a few tries to get the jig working very well.
