 "Vinyl siding blade" 2009-11-12
By William D. Chesnut
This blade works well for cutting vinyl siding.... it was able to cut thru the siding without cracks or shattering. I bought it to help with an addition and all of the cuts were to siding still on the house. I am about to side the new addition and have no doubt that this blade will make the cuts I need to complete this siding job... how well it works in colder weather is questionable but I think any cut in cold weather can be tricky.

I own a large selection of Milwaukee tools and a few Hilti tools. IMO, getting Milwaukee products are like getting Hilti products for a little less money. However, if you work in punishing, demanding conditions everyday, all day, then Hilti may be the way to go for the very long haul. For 90%, Milwaukee is a good bet

"Cut wood and nails like butter" 2009-07-14
By Michael Newlon (CA, USA)
Love these blades. Sawzalls are usually used in spots where other saws that will cut straighter and smoother can't reach. Because of this you don't want to spend all day in this awkward spot. I have never been so pleased with my saw using these blades. They last longer and cut so well that it's like using a completely different saw. I just installed a larger window in an existing wall. I cut through several studs with nails on a wall attached to plywood. Each stud took less than a minute, I cut straight and left the plywood undamaged. Buy these blades!

 "Fantastic Demo Blades!" 2009-04-28
By MilesToGo
I've been using these blades for around 5 years. These are fantastic, durable demo blades. They will chew through wood or steel. Unlike a previous reviwer, I find these blades are very easy to do plunge cuts with. They won't bend if you run the tip into something (unlike most similar blades). While doing residential demo work, I have litterally plunge cut into a wall and cut through the entire wall..removing it in a single piece. The only thing they won't cut is masonry/stone.

I can't say enough good about these blades. They have saved me lots of time and many headaches.

"Stump remover blades! (can't cut rocks though)" 2009-02-04
By G. Powell (Seattle, WA USA)
I bought a package of these blades to use to help cut the roots on a stump of a tree in my yard. The good news is that the stump is out. The bad it took 2 blades to do the trick. Ice hardened or not, the blades don't cut rocks. The teeth are still there but they are not sharp. These blades have a 5 year warranty, but I don't see how they'd last that long... Back to my story, when I hit a small rock, sparks flew, dirt spewed, roots still cut though.

Anyway I have a 12amp sawzall with a variable speed orbital cut (1 + 1/8th) and the sawzall was up to the job. Given these blades, there is not much that will stop you.

The nice thing is that these blades did not bend, or bind. If you are pruning, I'd go for the pruning blades though rather than these. And they are a little big on the tip & long for a plunge cut into a 2x4 without drilling a hole to start.

 "Very effective tool" 2009-11-01
By Rob
I needed to shape some timbers for a boating project and found that this was just the tool to do the job with out a lot of fooling around. Handles very nicely and removes wood at a good clip. As it behaves differently at different angles of attack it is worth the time to practice on well secured scraps till you find your technique.

The instructions are well worth reading, especially if you like to keep all your bits and pieces where they belong. This tool deserves at least as much respect as a chain saw, maybe more as it runs much faster and people can get casual with right angle grinders. I have seen more than one person set a grinder down while still spinning, this one won't be forgiving! Pay particular attention to the guard on your grinder and how it is set according to the instructions.

Chips fly a good distance, make sure you are wearing good protective gear including face mask, ear plugs and goggles, not just safety glasses. And be sure those around you are protected with goggles, etc.

Very pleased with the results using my 4 1/2" Milwaukee grinder, would suggest getting a spare chain if you are doing lots of production work or need to switch to a finer tooth pattern.

Worth the money!

 "Wood "cuting fool"" 2009-04-28
By D. Lamb (Salem, IL USA)
My King Arthur 45814 Lancelot carving tools arrived on schedule and in good shape. Installation was a snap with the special nut, as simple as installing a standard grinding blade. Really removes wood in a hurry. Easily controlled and simple to use. I suppose because of the rpms and 4-inch blade it seems to dull quickly. I spend what seems to be a lot of time sharpening. I've already got my money back from small items I've sold. I wish I had spent the extra and purchased the other brand with carbide teeth. Maybe the King Arthur folks can come up with 4" round carbide tipped chain saw blades?

"A log home MUST HAVE" 2003-03-02
By Paularado (Colorado)
This tool is a must have for anyone building a log home. Our builder had one and he used it in putting our house up. Now that we are finishing it, we have found it invaluable to:
-carve out grooves for the window/door bucks
-carve out grooves for wiring
-carve out large areas of the logs for light switches. I really don't know how we would do this without the king arthur. It would easily take 3x as long with a chisel.

This tool has allowed us to tackle many of the unusual challenges that come up with a log home. With each project, the king arthur has shown itself to be invaluable. Don't know how we would build this house without one.

Our electrician had to get one once he saw ours!

"Does not fit "older" sawzall type tools...." 2008-05-09
By Pancho
I gave this 1 star because I didn't get to actualy use this blade; it won't fit in my Porter Cable tool....read on for explanation.

I have an older model Porter Cable "sawzall" type tool [model 737] with it's "quick change" mechanism. Over the years, I have used various Milwaukee blades in this tool. I bought a set of these blades, item #48-00-5021, but found they wouldn't fit in my Porter Cable tool. I tried 3 of the 5 blades in the package. So I called "Milwaukee Tool..." and asked them if there was a manufacturing change. They confirmed the newer "AX" and "Torch" blade models are indeed thicker and will NOT fit some older models of not only their sawzall. They still offer for sale blades that are slightly thinner; so if you have an older recipricating saw, you'll probably need the Milwaukee blade model "48-00-5031". The "newer" blades are .062 thick; "older" blades are .050 thick.

 "Thicker and stronger" 2007-12-17
By Andrea F (NJ United States)
These blades are simply the best you can get bar none. You can do alot more work with your sawzall with these than you can with the cheaper blades because they last longer and are more resistant to bending.( a common occurance when making a plunge cut)As a result, you will spend less time changing blades and/or attempting to bend those cheap blades back into a useable shape.

These blades are standard issue with the milwaukee 11 amp orbital sawzall I just got. They also give you a blade called the torch, that is like the ax, except it cuts metal

"Blades live up to their name" 2006-02-26
By Marco Brico (Gap, France)
I've been using The Ax blades while renovating buildings in France and take pleasure while zipping through 300 year old beams. The blades cut best with an orbital action, but still work well with a regular straight push-pull action. I've cut through 12" diameter Larch beams embedded with heavy square spikes, plenty of fir (sapin) structural wood, tons of soft and hardwood pallets, and lately Birch and Oak firewood. The only material that dulls them rapidly is brick, but even then, they do cut through brick! My consumption rate is about 4 blades per year of each of the 6", 9", and 12" sizes when not cutting through brick. These blades will cut through any wood framed building material and you don't have to worry about them bending over if you smash the tip into something solid. I'm convinced that you can also grind the teeth off them and make steak knife blades with them when they're dull, as described in a 1950's Popular Mechanics book using old hacksaw blades. Ironically, the Milwaukee 48-08-0401 Quik-Lok Job Saw would make a fine handle. Five stars all the way.

 "Very durable blades" 2000-02-11
By Brad Archer (USA)
This is the toughest blade that I have come across. I work in plastics plant and we use sawzalls to cut up the nonconforming product to be reworked. I have tried several blades and they all bend and break. These blades are made from a thicker metal and can stand up to some real rough treatment. If you are hard on blades, these are the ones for you.
