I'm not sure why all right-handed saws do not have the blade on the left side. This thing is powerful and light. This is my go-to saw. I like the balance better than a worm-drive, but for monster cutting, it's good to have one of those, too. You can never have too many tools, although several saws is a luxury. I also have a trim saw for small jobs, but as a starter I would get this. It will do it all for you.

I've owned my own a residential construction business for over 20 years. As you can imagine, I've seen and used my fair share of circular saws. Porter Cables previous circular saws (743 and 347) were among the best I had ever used. So I was very happy to buy a few of the newer MAG saws when they came out.



And they performed wonderfully... for a while. All three of them have broken where the table meets the depth adjustment guide. Yes, they were dropped. From 3'. It should go without saying a commercial duty tool should NOT break so easily.



The repair guy at the local tool store that caters to contractors said he has seen 100's of these with the same problem. So, I am back to shopping for the older ones on eBay.

Arrived quickly packed in the manufacturer's box. All good. The saw works beautifully for rips and crosscuts. Accurate (square/flat baseplate from the outset) good power, nice weight/balance in the hand, and the directional sawdust exhaust port is a nice feature. Should have gotten one of these a long time ago!

After researching my options, I selected this saw for several reasons. I liked the way it felt, I had used the 325 before, I have several other tools from Porter-Cable and it received top rating from Fine Homebuilding in 2004(?).



After using it to cut 10 boards, the blade clamp self destructed. The saw blade that came with it has dished and hits the guard. The sight does not track with the blade.



I did buy the saw locally and it is under warranty, but I am now on my third blade clamp in less than two weeks (partially because it took 1 week to receive the replacement). Traditional, bolt-style blade clamps are available [...], which I will surely be buying. I really don't know what else will go wrong once I get to use it.



I bought a HD77M to replace it, no problems with that.

I won't go into depth about the power and handling of the saw, because so many others have adequately covered how nicely it works and how powerful it is. I will cover some of the rather esoteric stuff.



The included saw blade is only good for "really" rough cutting. It seems to be a good blade, but it will chew up a pine board or plywood/OSB panels. I bought a couple of Freud Diablo finish blades and a couple of good high tooth count plywood blades and I'm quite happy. Using these blades, I get excellent fast, straight and smooth cuts with the saw, no splintering or other fooling around, just cut and done for many applications. The saw has the speed and power to make those blades sing. I don't think I've ever had a saw go through 3/4" OSB panels as easily as this saw does with a good blade.



The case is a nice touch, with holders for the saw and the arbor wrench. It's light but seems pretty tough and has a compartment for blade storage. The holders for both the saw and the wrench are tenacious and can be a real hassle when you've got sore hands/fingers trying to get the wrench in or out.



I've never used a left side blade saw before and I really like the concept, being right handed. It's really nice not to have to lean over the saw when making long cuts, like ripping a plywood panel full length. Another nice touch is the tilting handle, that has 8 positions that you can set the handle for your comfort and needs depending on the job.



In short, I think it's a great saw and a good value.

Bought this to place a heavy worm drive saw for cabinet making. This is a really nice saw except for the base plate. It is made of aluminum and has raw edges on the sides that are not machined very well. Not a problem unless you use a saw guide like I do. I actually sent back the first one as the base plate had such rough edges that it would not follow the saw guide well at all. If they would just use one of thier new composite base plates with the turned up sides, this saw would be great! Hint, hint.

Amazing how long it has taken to start developing a line of standard circular saws for right-handed users! I have been using a Craftsman saw I bought 20 years ago, and was always annoyed at having to 'peek around the back' as well as coordination of pushing a little button in advance of being able to pull the start trigger. That saw just became my 'loan-out' tool when others ask to borrow.

I've always been a big fan of Milwaukee, especially their Super Sawzall, and was not surprised to see the 6391 saw to be well made, and certainly it is designed for RIGHT HANDED persons like me.

Key features about this saw that worked very well include the large lever to loosen the baseplate for depth of cut, arbor lock button (no more shoving nails/screwdrivers thru holes in blade to secure), adjustable handle position.

While I haven't done any 'drop tests' on mine yet, the baseplate of aircraft quality aluminum appears hefty enough to take some moderate abuse.

If any complaint at all...nitpick, I wish the tool for the arbor bolt had a place integral to the saw...like my Craftsman does. This would keep me from having to keep track of it, or keep it in the huge case the saw arrives in.
