"Smooth cutting. Sawdust stays off your line." 2009-07-31
By eyez wide open
I'm even cutting curves confidently with these Bosch blades in my saw. I made a couple of small arched shelves recently and could not believe how smoothly I cut the curve. It hardly even needed sanding. I run my saw about mid speed with these. Once they start biting, it's silky smooth. Make sure you have good pressure when getting started in hard wood or the saw will try to walk. Sometimes I take a small handsaw and cut a starting groove to prevent that. I'm now zipping through wood with these Bosch blades. The handsaw stays in the closet much more. With the blades I used to "try" to use, the cutting line was always covered in sawdust. Impossible to work that way. These Bosch blades put the sawdust on the floor and let you cut nonstop through your line, the way its supposed to be.

"Ok, but new style blade is better for hardwoods" 2009-03-30
By C. Henke
I bought a pack of both these blades as well as a newer style of Bosch blade labeled "Xtra clean for wood" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GNC8ZU/ref=cm_cr_mts_prod_img). The Xtra clean blades cut much more quickly and very cleanly in red oak. I highly recommend this other style of blade for use in hardwoods.

"Great product, but price is odd" 2007-06-14
By ARealAVFan (Acworth, GA)
I bought these blades in December, 2006, and have used them on hardwood and pressure treated decking. They give a smooth cut with little or no tear-out, but they do deflect a little. I would definitely recommend them though, as the cut is really clean. I can't figure out why amazon raised their price to above what the retail big-box stores carry these for, makes no sense to me. Amazon's price went to double what I paid just 6 months ago at amazon, yet the Marketplace sellers still have it at half the price. The India-based customer service reps were of no help when I asked about the price change.

"Very smooth, very clean cuts" 2008-08-01
By New England Yankee (Northern New England)
I bought this blade for my new Jet Deluxe saw to replace an older combination blade I had on hand. I've truly used it as an all-around blade - I haven't, in fact, put a dedicated crosscut or rip blade on the saw yet, as I've been happy with the cuts I've been getting. Crosscuts are as good as I've seen with a crosscut blade in the past. I can feel a bit of drag ripping, compared to using a dedicated rip blade, but the cut is still excellent. This is excellent performance in a modestly-priced blade, plus it's coated. I think it's a good buy.

"Good blade taking into consideration it is a combination " 2008-03-28
By M. Campos (Norwalk, CA)
I like this blade, it gives you a fairly good cut, but not as good as what I get with the 80 teeth crosscut blade or their 24 teeth rip blade. Considering that it is a combination blade and the convenience of not having to switch blades I would highly recommend it. On the other hand for real fine work I would always go to a dedicated blade.

 "everything has limitations" 2008-02-28
By F. da Silva
This post is not to insult anyone's woodworking skills just sharing my experience with this blade.

I bought this blade thinking I could mount it on my saw and forget about, mistake. This Blade works great as a combination saw blade on soft (pine) ¾ stock; but don't be fooled into thinking that you can mount it in your saw and forget about. The blade's full width kerf and number of teeth will cause your saw to bog down the first time you try to rip a piece of 4x4 hardwood stock. Especially if you are using it in an underpowered table top saw.I think the blade's thickness is the killer. Just something this weekend sawdust manufacture ran into.

Title says it all. Great blades. These things slice through fiber cement siding like a hot knife through butter. VERY low dust too. Long life on blade--I did a three car garage and attached 170 sq ft mudroom on one blade with no real noticeable dulling of blade. If you were siding a whole house or larger addition, you'd probably need two blades though.

 "Cuts cleanly" 2006-09-07
By PK (Midwest)
Not much needs to be said. This one delivers what you want in a saw blade; no noticeable vibration, cuts cleanly (top and bottom faces!), and lasts a long time considering you are essentially cutting cement and paper. Used on a 12" Bosch SCMS.

One other thing, if you are considering following the manufacturer's advice and using a power shears to cut fiber cement instead of a saw blade to minimize dust, save your money, buy a dust mask, and get this blade. The shears won't ever get you consistent edges and smooth cuts like this (I regretably wasted my money on the PC one). Also, use a sharp utility knife blade to do the 'score and snap' method for those cuts the SCMS cannot do -- and get the Malco nippers too!

 "great blade best price" 2009-09-07
By Patrick Schmear (East Texas)
I looked at all the big stores. Home depot, lowes and ace hardware. Not one of these stores carry Hardie blades. Which really surprises me considering how popular hardie is these days. Some carry them in the 7 1/4 but none carry a 10 inch blade.

I work with and for my dad's building business.I bought the blade along with some gauges and my dad could not believe the difference. He had purchased a blade from a building material supplier for $40 and it was a blade for cutting concrete. It worked but it cut through a lot slower and created a ton of dust. It was a diference of night and day. Before I left Milwaukee to move down to Texas I checked a well known store that carried a lot of things most dont. They told me they carried the Hitachi blades in a 10" but they cost $100. So far since this blade we have done 2 houses. Still cutting great and dad still raves about it. Now I need to order some jig saw blades since I cant seem to find them at any hardware stores as well. These hardware stores are missing out on sales. I just dont get it.

 "Cuts like butter!" 2009-08-25
By M. Hawkins (Eugene, OR)
This blade does a great job by cutting hardiplank siding. I am just finishing up a house remodel and used this blade to install all of my siding. This blade cuts smooth and is still cutting well. I bought 2 blades, one for my 10" miter saw and a 7 1/4" for my circular saw. Both did a great job with no complaints. The dust wasnt that bad from these blades, nothing like a standard carbide blade. I recommend wearing a respirator when cutting this siding. This stuff isnt good to breath! Definitely a must have if you are installing hardiplank siding!

"Lived Up To My Expectation" 2009-07-12
By David Staehle (Tulsa, OK USA)
I must say I was really impressed with the first cut. I was surprised how quite and smooth the cuts were and, as specified by the product description, produced little dust. I probably made a total of 60 cuts on my 10" sliding miter power saw. After about 40 cuts, the noise and dust increased somewhat and the cut lines were not as smooth as the first cut, however, I think this blade could handle another major project. I recommend this product. I would have rated this a 5-star but didn't because I think it's overpriced. I think it should be priced in the $40-$50 range.

"All that's promised, I would say so far" 2009-02-20
By Tim in Mint Hill (Charlotte, NC USA)
This blade, made specifically for cutting fiber cement boards/planks, has lived up to my expectations so far. I'm a homeowner, doing my own re-siding of my home with Hardiboard planks, and I'm only about 2/3 the way done. I've had to make a lot of cuts because of multiple sides, windows etc, and have gone thru several 'certified' Hardie approved (4 tooth) blades, i.e Freud, Irwin, but they DID NOT have PCD (polycrystalline diamond) inserts. Those blades, while holding up better than a standard carbide blade would, started showing signs of wear after about 30-40 cuts, shooting sparks and such.

I read about these blades by Hitachi (DeWalt, Makita and others also have them with PCD) and the review/price seemed to make the Hitachi the best value. Good value, doesn't mean cheap!

I bought the 7-1/4" and 10" variants of the this Hitachi blade, and have made hundreds of cuts so far, with no signs of degraded cutting ability.

I use the 7-1/4 only for my circular saw for ripping. As promised, and printed on the label of this 10" blade, you can gang together up to 5 planks to cut at one time...and it works flawlessly. I use a Bosch compound miter saw and it literally makes the cut so cleanly, even after hundreds of cuts, that I simply wipe the edge with my hand before nailing the planks up. No more using a knife to cut away the jagged edges left by poor quality blades.

If you're like me, you hate dealing with the dust of cutting fiber cement boards. If using a compound or chop saw, you will cut thru so fast, with so little dust, for some cuts and having a light breeze to take the dust from you, you'll be tempted to now put the mask on every time. Not recommended, but a testament to how much less dust these do generate.

I'm very happy with this product.

 "why so expensive?" 2008-08-26
By dusty jack (Maine)
This thing works ok. It is hard to believe it reduces the amount of dust created, as dust is blowing out of the back of the saw as if that were purpose of the operation. It does cut fiber cement siding crisply and repeatedly. My 7" blade cost $6 and this costs $60, they both work equally well. Go figure!

This blade goes beyond cutting and surgically removes wood with ease. The lazer cut dampers vertually eliminate vibration and noise. Thump it with your finger and all you hear is a dull thunk. The aggresive hook angle, thin kerf and low run out make for smooth cuts (for 24 teeth) and very low feed effort. Use this in my 3HP cabinet saw for ripping and mortise cheek cuts in softer wooods and can hardly tell your cutting anything. The finish cut is comparable to a combo blade. Definately the blade for a low powered saw. Dont know about durability yet as I only have a few hours on it.

"About As Good as a 24 Tooth Rip Blade Gets" 2009-04-11
By Knotscott (NY)
Performance of the Freud LU87R010 is about as good as you can reasonably get from a 10" thin kerf 24 tooth bulk ripping blade. It has a flat top grind (FTG) that efficiently removes stock, and a steep positive hook angle to reduce resistance when feeding wood into the saw. It'll rip efficiently to ~ 3" on most common 110v saws (< 2hp) , and leaves a glue ready edge with minimal saw marks. It's not recommended as a crosscut blade, but does a very respectable job of it's intended task. I've also used the Freud LM72, DeWalt 7124TK, Leitz 24T ripper, and Infinity 24T ripper. IMHO, the LU87 is as good as any bulk ripper.

 "Nice blade" 2009-02-27
By D. Thorne (N.H. USA)
The Freud LU87R010 blade I purchased from Amazon is awesome. I put it on my porter cable 3812 portable table saw and what a difference, WOW! I had bought a cheaper blade for it and it bogged down my saw even in thinner materials such as 3/4" pine but the Freud blade rips 2 by stock like butter. I put this saw in a Rousseau stand with out feed table which I highly reccomend. The stand makes the saw safer to use and gives you more working space for ripping full sheets of plywood, paneling etc. and can be done by yourself which is nice. In my 27 years of building and buying tools I have learned that when you buy cheap you get cheap, so if you want good quality then you have to spend more but in the end it's way worth it.

Bought this blade on the price and amazon recommendations. Not disappointed so far. Nice finish, looks pretty well made. French manufacture. I ran a few test cuts in a porter cable miter saw on some birch plywood and I did get some chipout on the bottom. Looking at the cut itself, you can see a few swirls from the blade so I wouldn't say its a glass smooth finish by any means. It is a much better blade then the original so I am happy with it. I may chuck it up in the tablesaw since it also takes a 12" blade and see how well it works on a few crosscuts.

This is the 2nd blade of this type that I am buying. This blade cuts amazingly clean, and slices through any material like a hot knife through butter. There is no comparison between this blade and the stock one that came with my miter saw. I am buying a 2nd due to an accident that ruined the 1st blade, which would have undoubtedly lasted a long time. This blade cuts as well as others costing over twice as much. Highly recommended.

"Best dado blade I've used." 2009-08-31

This is by far the best dado blade I've used. The blades cut smooth and leave a very nice flat bottom in the dado. I mounted these on a Skil contractor 10" table saw with a measly one horsepower motor and I had no problems cutting into 2x lumber, oak, walnut or mahogany. I highly recommend this dado set. I only wish they would make one with a 1" bore for my 12" table saw.

"Oshlun stack dado is a great value" 2009-08-22
By Richard P. Beatty (Delaware)
Sure, the cardboard box is cheesy, but that's not why I bought this set. I'm making a chest that requires hundreds of dado cuts. I'm an intermediate woodworker and this dado set helped make quick work of it. The only issue I've had is some tearout when cutting cross-grain dado cuts in the edge of 3/4 inch oak, but I suspect this might have been an issue with any dado or maybe with my feed rate. Maybe finer teeth would help, I don't know... but that might compromise other performance. It seems very easy to get the exact cut width I want and the set looks like it will be very durable.
