 "SERIOUS FRAMER TIP:" 2009-07-23
By K. Isbell (bastrop, tx, usa)
serious framer tip: if you were to take an 8 1/4" worm drive 'skilsaw', remove the guard, grind out a groove at the front of the base where the blade comes through, and put this freud 9" thin kerf blade on it; you will have an efficient (but not OSHA approved) plating saw capable of cutting two 1 1/2" plates at once (3 1/8" cut). the problem with most 9" blades, if you can find one, is that they are thick sheets of steel almost 1/8" with a 1/8 kerf. this combination of weight and friction will bog the saw down during heavy ripping and becomes several times more dangerous than heavy cross cutting. with this blade, it is thinner and lighter, and has the anti-stick perma-shield barrier. these factors create a smoother, more efficient, and safer performance under heavy ripping conditions with a plating saw.

This blade is awesome. We used it to rip 2 x 12's into 2 x 4's and it cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

 "Works great!" 2009-03-09
By Jared Yates (North Carolina USA)
I had trouble finding a local source for a 9-inch blade to go on my old Craftsman model 113 table saw. I use a radial arm saw for cross cuts, so the table saw usually only comes out for ripping. That made this blade aseem like a great choice, and when I set it up and tried it out it turned out to be a great choice indeed. A Rip cut on pine 2x4s ends up so smooth that looks like the piece has been sanded. So far I've also used it on poplar with equally great results.

I use the 10" version of this blade and use one constantly. The thin kerf lets it cut through hardwoods like butter. The thin kerf is a big help with an under powered saw. I have a number of blades, but I use this the most

"Thrilled with this high-quality blade" 2009-08-30
By Harry Abramson (Chesapeake, Virginia USA)
After taking my old 1971-vintage Craftsman 9-inch radial arm saw out of mothballs for a recent project, I'd have been happy to discover that *any* 9-inch blades were still being made. To find one of this quality and performance was just a bonus. So far, I've only used it for cross-cutting softwood pieces & PVC exterior trim, but every cut has been very clean and with silky smooth ends and no tear-outs. I also picked up the Freud LU87R009 22-tooth ripping blade, but haven't had a chance to try it out, yet.

"The Best cross-cut finish saw blade" 2009-05-02
By Richard Rolston (Long Island, NY)
I've been using my DeWalt 9" radial arm saw since 1959 when my dad bought it for me for Christmas. I was 12 years old.

I love wood working and I have lugged my DeWalt with me where ever I lived. Over those years saw blade technology has improved many times.

Well, with the advent of this Freud LU88R saw blade, I don,t see how blades can get any better, except, maybe, for laser wood cutting some day.

This Diablo blade leaves all the other saw blades in the dust (pun intended). It is extemely quiet, doesn't "sing" at all when not cutting. And, boy, does it cut. Zips through mahogany and oak like butter. It cuts so well I had to show it to my wife (like she should care).

I recommend that you buy two so you always have a really sharp cross-cut blade to use.

 "Great Blade" 2008-02-22
By J. Keesey (Sunnyvale, CA)
We have an OLD dewalt radial arm saw that is underpowered. We read that this blade is specifically designed for underpowered saws. It is thinner and has a narrower kerf which means it has less wood to remove to make a cut. We read about this in a magazine that gave it a thumbs up, and we concur. It exceeded our expectations. We were cutting walnut and Brazilian Teak (aka cumaru), which is second on the wood hardness scale at our local flooring company. I expected burning and hesitation/choking on the part of the saw. It cut beautifully despite the difficult wood. No burning at all, no hesitation on the part of the saw. I will continue to get this blade and in fact am looking for one for my chop saw.

 "Cuts Cast Iron Pipe!" 2004-06-12
By Matthew J. Monahan (Chattanooga, TN United States)
These blades are pricey, but they are the best thing I've used yet for cutting cast iron piping during remoding jobs. I've tried metal cutting circular saw blades, metal cutting disks on an angle grinder, other metal cutting reciprocating saw blades and a pneumatic cut off wheel. This not only does the job, but one blade will last long enough to cut many pipes!

 "Works with my Ryobi 18V One+" 2009-08-03
By Glenn R. Howes (Nashua, NH)
I recently purchased a Ryobi 18V reciprocating saw (the yellow one) to go along with my other One+ tools. I know it's not the most heavy weight tool, but I already have the batteries. Regardless, I've mainly being using it to cut down scrub brush and pruning small trees on my property. And for this purpose it is fine. After trying the wood blade that came with the saw, a white Milwaukee "Axe" blade and now these green Milwaukee pruning blades, I can say that these are noticeably better at cutting wiggly living tree branches: less vibration and cleaner cutting. In general, I'm very satisfied.

 "save your $$" 2009-05-13

Cuts very slowly, much slower than a regular pruner or a chainsaw, and the cut is very jagged, which is a poor outcome for pruning, where a clean cut is important.

"Surprise, Your Sawzall Can Do One More Job You Never Thought About" 2009-04-28
By AgedWireHead (Houston TX USA)
I needed to do quite a bit of quick branch pruning before a renovation project could start, and the branches were too large for pruning shears and too small for my chain saw. My Sawzall came to mind, so I found the largest tooth long blades that I had and went to work. It went pretty well, considering, but the blades would foul and tend to bind too often. Still, the job was completed much faster than I expected.

That evening, Amazon tempted me by showing me these blades, and I bought them. First, they are very sharp, and the significant set and large teeth amplify this, so use gloves and care when handling the blades. I was cut just while opening the plastic container. Second, they cut green wood great, much easier than the other demolition blades I tried, and they have not fouled up on me at all.

Now, what I want to know is: why am I suddenly doing all of this pruning?

 "Great Camp(Cabin) Blades" 2009-01-01
By R. YORK
Have used these blades for mostly trimming pine branches and dead brush up to 4" in diameter(haven't tried anything bigger). Works even better with a sawzall that has a selectable orbital action like the smaller Milwaukee 6514-21 Hatchet. Great for breaking up brush that you're going to burn at the campfire instead of trying to break with hands and feet or dealing with rearranging half burnt over sized wood.
