Delivery from Amazon was excellent. This blade literally smokes wood. I does leave a clean cut so it gets a two. I had to fight it through 3/4" birch plywood. I would go with Freud or Forrest if you can afford it.

 "Finished the set" 2009-01-18
By Joe B (Atlanta)
This is a great blade that finished the set for my new Porter Cable 18 volt saw. Locally, even Home Depot and Lowes didn't have a 40 tooth blade and I had to go on line. Glad I did. It arrived in record time and in excellent condition. I was happily using it the day it arrived. Excellent value at even a higher cost.

 "okay blade" 2008-01-14
By Paul Bowman (Baltimore, MD USA)
This 40-tooth Freud is quick & pretty smooth, but I find cuts aren't clean enough for prefinished trim or prefinished flooring installs.

The stuff I do varies, but it's mostly small remodel work, so I just switched from my 10-inch miter saw to an 8-1/2-inch. Thought this blade worth a try, but I'll be looking for less aggressive cutting & more teeth for my own finer-cut needs.

"Glass smooth cuts in maple" 2009-10-07
By W. B. Halper (Saratoga, CA)
I've just finished cutting quite a few maple boards using my Hitachi C8FSE 8-1/2-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw. The cut surface was absolutely smooth with virtually no chipping on the edges. I've had similar results cutting through oak and other hardwood.

I've also used this blade (although a different one) to cut through 1/8" aluminum and 1/16" brass stock. It's not a recommended use, as the hook angle of the teeth is wrong, but it worked and the cuts were smooth. (If you need to do a lot of metal cutting, you should invest in a blade specifically designed for that purpose - CMT 225.060.08 8-1/2" x 60 Tooth, .122 Kerf, 5/8" Bore Non-Ferrous Metal, PVC & Melamine Cutting Miter Saw Blade) or the Hitachi 998864 8-1/2-Inch 60 Tooth Non-Ferrous Metal Cutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor

 "Perfect Value, Fine Performance" 2009-02-03
By B. P. Murphy (McLean, VA USA)
This blade is an excellent value according to any criteria you might apply. It is exceedingly sharp, remarkably quiet and wobble free. It is the exact size required for my Dewalt sliding arm compound miter saw. The blade is decidedly better than any option available from the saw manufacturer. It is also a much better value than the so-called premium blades at better than twice the price. It is even cheaper to buy online with free shipping than it is to purchase it at the local mass market home improvement store. I have used miter saws for both hobby and professional applications for more than 20 years, especially for high end custom hardwood trimwork, and this is the very best blade I have used.

 "Superb where others failed...." 2007-12-29
By Kevin Mcdermott (Essex County, Massachusetts)
I bought this blade as a last-chance hope to use on a 1950s vintage combination machine tool, the ShopSmith 10er. The saw function is admitted to be the most compromised of the various options, and the tool is powered by its original 1/2HP motor. Other saw blades...even new ones...failed to cut through 1/4 stock without binding and gave a lousy cut to boot. I had pretty much decided to not use the 10er as a saw at all...but then this blade arrived. It whipped through 2x4s without blinking and gave a cut that was razor-clean besides. Highest recommendation!

 "Smooth, clean cuts" 2005-08-05
By Steven Horii (Philadelphia, PA USA)
I used this blade with a DeWalt 8.5-inch sliding compound miter saw on my recent flooring project. I was putting down a laminate/composite floor. The recommendation of the flooring manufacturer was for a carbide blade with a lot of teeth (60 on a 10-inch blade). I had to cut many angles because of the shape of the room and the saw/blade worked very well. Cut surfaces were very smooth - almost like they were planed. No chipping of the laminate surface, except to a very minor degree when I had to plunge the blade because the angle put the start of the cut right at the edge of the material.

I also used a laser guide with this blade. The laser guide is reliably at the left edge of the kerf, so you can get very close to the exact cut location you want.

The cutting noise is a bit lower than carbide blades with fewer teeth.

No complaints - the blade works as advertised. I also have a 7.25" Freud carbide blade on my circular saw (a Milwaukee) and it works well. This is one reason I decided on the Freud for the DeWalt saw.

 "Fine Fein" 2009-08-23
By C. L. Moore (Houston, TX United States)
These are great for cutting softer woods and plywood. Don't use them on hard woods like maple because the teeth will deteriorate quickly. If you need to cut hardwoods use the 1" wide blades, they are much better. Fein makes good products but they must think that we are all rich like they must be. Their prices are way too high. Soon there will be others that will interchange and the prices will come down. In the meantime we will keep making them rich.

"Cut well for about 2 minutes" 2009-06-27
By mudbug99 (WV)
I agree with others, these precision blades dull quickly and are very fragile. I broke off the last 10 teeth or so on each end after about 5 minutes trimming pine molding. Pretty ridiculous, especially considering the quite high price tag. Get the standard blades, they last longer.

 "Expensive and fragile" 2009-04-11
By Alan N. Fleming
The Fein Multimaster is an indispensable tool. Not perfect but It is much better than any of the other brands. However, the blades are greatly overpriced. They vibrate a lot, burn the wood, can break, and dull easily. That would be OK if they were inexpensive so that you could replace them as often as needed. Can't wait until another manufacturer comes up with an inexpensive good blade. No one will buy Fein blades anymore.

"Very happy with this blade" 2009-04-20
By R. McCready (Maryland)
Up to this point, I have only used friction and abrasive blades to cut steel. I was skeptical of a blade that looks just like your standard wood blade would work well and could last. But I have been very happy with the speed and smoothness of the cuts, and so far, the blade seems to have remained quite sharp. I've only cut about four 1/2" dia. bolts and a dozen or so 1/2" rebar, so it's still a little early to tell how long it will remain sharp. But it has saved me a lot of time and has kept the metal much cooler than with other blade types. I'm very happy with it so far.

fits dewalt battery powered saws ( as my experiance)and works exeptionally well in the field for ripping sheets to width however, if you are cutting valleys you can only expect about 100 lf.to 150 lf. of cut out of this blade, but it's better than the $40.00 demon blades sold by another company.

I've been using this blade as a "nail cutter" for my cordless saw. I wouldn't want to cut a ton of wood with it, but that is not what it was made for -- rather slow cutting. However, in the nail infested old studs I was cutting, it worked like a charm. It is very well made.

"Answer to Joe's question about alternatives" 2006-07-28
By JohnS (Phoenix)
I think the Fein tool looks like a fine piece of equipment. The high price, especially for replacement blades, has always given me cause for pause. With respect to grout removal tools, I recommend the Grout Grabber as a lower cost, but very effective alternative, if you happen to have a Sawzall, or equivalent saw. Amazon has the Grout Grabber for about $15. You can add or remove carbide cutters to match the grout line thickness (more cost for extra blades).

I used the Grout Grabber to repair about 25 16"x16" tiles. The broken tiles were not next to one another, so I had to cut 64 linear inches per tile. 2 blades were used for the entire job. The blades were installed back-to-back on the tool. When the outside edges became worn, I swapped the blade positions to use the fresh edge.

You have to be mindful of the blade position as you cut, so that you don't mar or damage the adjacent good tiles. It is possible to jump out of the grout line early in the cut, if you're not careful. You also have to be mindful of how deep you cut. The blade attachment bolts will scrape and damage tile if you cut too deeply. A steady hand and diligent eye will go far towards avoiding problems. Keep the shop vac close by to remove the grout dust, and keep the cutting line clear.

The Sawzall might be a bit heavy for protracted wall work. Since my projects are all personal home projects, I think I can put up with a lot of discomfort for the cost of a Fein, blade. If I was doing this for a living, and I could pass the cost to the customer, I think I would take the Fein plunge.

"Great Blade at a Great Price" 2009-10-05
By D. Niederhauser (Lehi, UT)
I originally was going to go with the Diablo blade but found this one and decided to give it a try. While I've only had the Hitachi blade for a couple of months so only time will tell if it holds up as long as a Diablo blade will, for now I've put this Hitachi blade through a lot of use while building a completely new bathroom and this Hitachi blade has been great. It makes very quick, smooth, fine finished cuts and has a blade that it a bit thinner which makes it easier to be right on target with your measured cuts. From my experience with this blade I will tell you that you will not notice any difference between this blade and a Diablo blade that retails at twice the price. I think it's a great value for the price.
