 "what a pleasant surprise!" 2009-09-21
By dr. cliff (New Olreans, LA United States)
I bought this blade to demo the box off a 17' box van, all FRP panels and extruded aluminum 'bones'. The Sawzall with a demo blade was working but slowly and with the huge noise & vibration you expect from a Sawzall. So I tried this blade in my Makita Hypoid.

This blade is not some kind of last-resort, better-than-nothing solution for cutting aluminum. My Makita was eating aluminum about like it eats pine 2by lumber! Smooth, near-effortless cutting, easy to control, and the saw never really worked up a sweat. Hours of Sawzall work was done in about 15 minutes.

Two things you should know-

1. This blade makes A LOT of noise. Hearing protection is a must.

2. This blade spits aluminum 'sawdust' all over the place. It's not sharp like steel trimmings but it's aggravating. I brushed myself off with a whisk broom before going back in the house.

"An outstanding aluminum cutting saw blade" 2009-08-22
By Joe T. Buchanan (Greensboro, NC United States)
This is an interesting story. I had an aluminum decorative fence to install in my backyard and went to Lowe's and Home Depot to find a non-ferrous blade. Neither had one in stock, so I turned to their web pages. In both cases, navigating their web pages was so laborious, I gave up. I figured there was no way that Amazon would have the blade, but I gave them a shot anyway. To my surprise, they had it! If I were Lowe's and Home Depot, I'd be very embarrassed.

Anyway, the blade has worked great. I have made over 100 cuts with it so far and it doesn't seem to be getting dull. Not only that, the blade cuts through aluminum cleanly and smoothly like a hot knife through butter. I really couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase.

By John Q. Consumer
This blade seems to be top-notch. I do not have experience with other non-ferrous metal cutting blades, but this one seems to do the job perfectly: Nice smooth cuts, without burrs or distortion. I was able to purchase this one for $19.99, plus $4.99 shipping, so it is one of the most affordable blades of this type available right now.

"the best blade hands down..." 2009-03-22
By John Rush (wash,dc)
forrest makes a great saw blade, and they stand behind it 100%... they also resharpen the blades when they inevitably get dull, and they come back as good as new, you cannot find a better product, anywhere... buy both the ripping and crosscut, and use them appropriately, and you will be glad you did....

 "Not always great." 2008-06-27
By Professional Woodworker (san francisco)
I have been a huge fan of Forrest blades, using them almost exclusively, but when I bought a second Woodworker I so I would have something to use while the other one is being sharpenned, I was greatly disappointed with what I received. The center bore was tighter than normal and all the cuts burned. I may be willing to pay twice the price for the quality, but the company better work twice as hard on quality control.

Amazon sent me a replacement, which I haven't tried yet, but I hope this isn't a sign that Forrest has gotten too big for itself. I'll jump ship if this happens again.

 "The Best" 2006-10-05
By Malgorzata E. Zaluska (New York)
This is quality. The blade works like a hot knife to butter, enhances the cutting power of your machine. Freud nor Amana come close to this. It is pricey; double what a Freud blade would cost. Though you can send this back to the manufacturer for a resharpening at a smaller cost than a new blade.

I have had this blade for a year and a half..I can say that it is the best of the best. I now will have to have it resharpened, my fault,I did not scan first, cutting some "old salvaged" 2 x 4 and just happened to get into some dry wall screws. Believe it ! it still give an ok cut but I want it better..I would buy another in a second if needed.

 "Outstanding" 2007-12-06
By C. L. Messina (Columbus, GA)
The previous reviewer is talking about a promotion that was printed on the packaging for these blades. It was a 'buy one get one free' offer, which is quite a deal. When I bought my blade from Home Depot that was a partial incentive but the other incentive was my familiarity with other woodworkers who had good results with Freud blades. Well, got my blade home and found out after the fact I bought the blade a month too late for the promotion. Yeah, a bummer, but no reason at all to knock the blade. In fact I've been using this blade exclusively for the last year and a half and am continually amazed by its performance. It's cuts quiet and puts a smooth finish on everything. I've used it for rip cutting and cross cutting on every wood I've ever touched including 16/4 maple, mahogany, padauk, cherry, pine, spf, and cedar. In every instance this blade performed spectacularly and still performs well. I've tried a few other blades but always return to this one since it performs well in pretty much every situation I throw at it. The only blade I would consider buying for a performance improvement is a Forest WWII but I'm hard pressed to believe anything will cut much better than this at anywhere near the price. As they say, I'd have to see it to believe it. I paid $60 for this blade and still think it's worth it.

 "I feel like I was cheated" 2005-08-12
By Jim D. White
You get 1 blade and have to send $3 for shipping in order to get the 2nd blade. The offer sounds great, but when I got just 1 blade in mail and seen I had to send $3 to Freud along with orginal recept, plus proof of purchase bar code, I really felt cheated. Why don't they just give two blades at one time if they want to really have a buy one get one sale.I am sure the 1060 blade is a very good blade but I have not tried it.

"good enough to have re-sharpened (now I have two)" 2009-01-26
By Philip G. Aro (San Francisco)
I bought my first Freud Thin Kerf blade eight years ago when we remodeled (our newly purchased Victorian disaster) before we could move in. I used it for both trim work and basic construction on my Makita portable table saw with folding base - these bases/guides are the other thing that makes portable saws worth it. It served for years beyond that for both furniture and home improvement projects. I finally had to get the blade sharpened or replaced - so instead of waiting around for the saw works to finish, I ordered a new one from Amazon. The old blade is now back and ready for use, dipped around the cutting edge in removable protective plastic. I may replace the Makita some day, but the blades are definitely going on the new saw.

"Great blade for underpowered saw" 2008-10-08
By 2005bravodelta (TN)
I tried this blade upon urging from a cabinet maker. The blade cuts great and has extended the use of my "antique" table saw. I used it on a project with tigerwood which is hard and dense. The blade performed flawlessly. This is a great blade for the weekend project kind of folks.

 "Great Blade!" 2008-06-24

Bought this to replace the Craftsman blade that came with the miter saw and was amazed at the difference. Miter cuts that I used to really have a problem with matching up now are near perfect. Very satisfied with this purchase!

 "I like this blade" 2008-02-27
By D. W. Scudder (Hamilton, Ohio USA)
Never purchased what I could call a top-of-the-line blade for my 2.5HP Craftsman 10" table saw until this one. I crosscut 3/4" red oak and was so impressed with the smooth wood surface. Hardly any bog down, not to mention the low volume of saw dust produced. The thin kerf and teflon coating must be adding to this affect.

This is the best blade I have ever owned, but since this is my first professional blade, I can't give it a 5 star rating, although it could very well be that. Very pleased!

"Smooth cuts all the way" 2007-09-13
By Bas
This blade produces some exceptionally smooth cuts. I've used it in both my table saw and miter saw, and can't ask for much more. No jagged edges, no saw marks, no tearing. Even with my underpowered, direct drive table saw cuts come out clean.

Is it better than a Forrest Woodworker? No idea, never used one. It is definitely better than the stock blade you get with the saw. I also got the Freud 24T ripping blade. Together, I can get my table saw to actually cut wood.
