 "BEAM SAW BLADE" 2009-10-02
By Hippy Dave (Wisconsin)
What no one adresses in any reveiws for a beam saw is the fact that many saws are underpowered for blades this size.

The Oshlun blade performs well as ripping or cross-cut blade. I performed many full depth rips w/ the blade in reclaimed cedar beams. All things considered it performed like a champ. I wish the saw had more power (older style Makita beam saw) I was concerned the blade may pinch o rjam and cause a nasty kick back, or worse yet get too hot and start to wobble / wander. None of the above happened. I'm a carpenter by trade, this is my first time w/ a beam saw, so take it for what its worth - Good price and fast shipping.

 "lousy blade--don't bother" 2008-07-24
By B. Robson (Denver, CO)
As the title states, this is a lousy blade. The blade is too thin to have any stability (kerf thickness) and wanders all over.

I was never able to get the blade to cut straight. As soon as the blade would start to cut, it would try to make a left hand turn, causing the blade to bind in the kerf. After several hours fiddling with my saw's adjustments, I finally gave up on this blade and it hit the trash.

Don't waste your money on this blade.

 "Very rough cuts" 2001-12-28
By Kevin Coleman (Orinda, CA USA)
I bought this blade to run in my Jet 12 inch band saw. I am fairly certain I have it set up properly and it cuts very poorly. The offsets on each teeth are very large and thus it leaves an extremely rough cut on any wood unless you feed the wood at a very slow rate and thus burn it. The roughness is so bad you cant even sand it out so I dont recommend this blade at all

"Brand name perfect fit, works right" 2008-02-09
By Joseph P. Zalac (Commerce Michigan)
I am retired and have started doing some wood working as a hobby. I have a older model Delta brand band saw (12x6) and these blades are a perfect fit

These band saw blades work great for cutting out wood blanks for lathe projects. Many small wood shapes are possable also. Amazon has them in stock and delivery is good too. I have ordered several different sizes of blades also. They all work fine. I always check Amazon first for my wood working tool needs.

 "All I'd hoped for" 2009-11-04
By Sean M. Brady (Huntington, MA)
When my gas saw suddenly broke, I was in a pinch so I had this over-nighted in from Amazon. The saw came through with flying colors. This saw cuts just as well as my 42cc gas saw does. At 2600fpm the chain speed is not as fast, but the motor is so strong I can put more pressure on the blade and make cuts in the same amount of time- maybe even a little faster. That really surprised me. I made about 50 cuts on logs ranging from 6 inches to 15 inches. The last cut was as good as the first. Cutting 15 inch birch is a good test for this saw and it ate it right up. Harder woods were even easier to cut.

This saw would be impractical for felling and bucking trees with a lot of branches because of the cord. It would be excellent for occasional and emergency use around the home. This saw would be a good choice for commercial firewood if it's only being used to cut bucked logs down to firewood lengths.

And thanks to Amazon (and Fedex) for coming through with the overnight delivery when I really needed it. It cost a lot, but the product and the service came through to get the job done.

 "Good electric saw" 2009-10-27
By Richard Rock
After going through 3 other electric saws (the last 2 Troy Bilt TB4516CC's) in as many years, I moved up in price to this Makita. After a year with the Makita felling several large trees and cutting them into firewood, I am happy to report I can put my recommendation on this saw. It is higher in price than most other electric chain saws but it works, can handle large logs, cuts reasonably fast, and has stood up to my punishment. It cannot compete with good gas saws but I hate the noise, smoke, maintenance..... so started using electric saws several years ago. Was concerned after 3 very disappointing failures that I would not find an electric option so decided to try this relatively (to other electric saws) expensive Makita - and have been pleasantly surprised at the functionality and durability of this product. Hopefully this recommendation is not premature.... I feel pretty confident this Makita is a solid machine that will provide years of service.

 "Powerful" 2009-09-18
By Herman T. Kam
Ample power to cut 12" logs. I like the tool-less feature. You can make adjustments right on the spot without any other tool. No messing around with gas and oil mix and hard starting. Easy to take apart and clean without a tool.

I highly recommend it for home use.

"a small woman can use this one" 2009-09-13
By Marie Kazalia (formerly San Francisco now Ohio)
After I had a professional tree service cut down two large maple trees growing too close to my house ( I hated to have them cut down but had no choice, the branches were touching the roof and some of the high branches were so heavy they were splitting and falling) The tree service guys *bucked it up* for me, which means they cut the branches and trunk up into pieces. I wanted the wood to burn in my fireplace. Many of the pieces too large, and needed further cutting. I ordered the Makita chainsaw, after reading consumer advice online. My first time trying to cut wood and use a larger chainsaw, (I have a small battery chainsaw for pruning), the Makita chainsaw cut right thru the 10 inch thick branches fast and easy. But when I tried to cut up the larger pieces of the tree trunk I apparently dulled the chainsaw blades. The cutting was not so easy and it got to the point where I could not cut even a small branch, the chainsaw blades got so dull. So after just a few hours of use over a couple weeks time i had to stop using the chainsaw and order a new chainsaw chain, which Amazon has for $21.--but I have not received yet. I did not expect the chain blades to dull so fast. I was just cutting wood. I don't know if the User manual for this chainsaw gives any guidance on how to avoid dulling the blade, or if it is possible to have the chain blades sharpened, like the large gas chainsaw blades can be...or if I will have to buy a new chain every month. I purchased the last one in stock at Amazon (so not a good indication). I had wanted to order two at once....

Perhaps with further use I will learn how to use the chainsaw and cut the wood without dulling the chain blades so fast. Also, the oil well runs out fast and has to be refilled frequently while cutting-- this contributes to dulling the blades, if the oil is out and you don't notice immediately. So it is necessary to check the oil level frequently...

I purchased this saw for use in clearing s large number of small trees from my lot and cutting firewood. The product has exceeded by expections in every respect. It is easy to assemble, light weight, and very easy to use. The assembly instructions were complete and well illustrated. I have been using the saw for over a month and have encountered no problems.

"Not perfect but USA made" 2009-09-14
By Bill Wallace (CA United States)
This hole saw arbor isn't perfect, as there is noticeable wobble, but it is made in USA so that is a plus for me. I've found that all hole saws and arbors wobble, so for all practical purposes this seems to be as good as it will get for me. The shank on this arbor is hollow to allow the pilot drill to go through it, so be careful not to tighten it too much in your chuck or you can crack and break it. I did this with a Milwaukee arbor in my Jacobs "super duty ball bearing chuck" which can REALLY hold tight.

I wonder whether another arbor (e.g. Dewalt's) would be more confidence-inspiring.

 "It worked good." 2009-02-16
By F. Merz
This hole saw cut through an Ibeam, 1/4" thick. I had to make 4 cuts and several through wood. It cut through them all. The only issue, was the holes in the arbor did not exactly line up when it was tight. Overall I was impressed. I would buy other hole saws from Morse.

 "love/hate relationship, I need a new lover . . ." 2009-05-09
By Bernie Butt (Colorado Springs, CO)
I love my Fein Multimaster. I hate being ripped off for blades. I have used almost all of the blades for my Fein, love how they work. I hate the rip-off prices for the blades. I'm hoping someone will get some aftermarket blades of all types available soon.

Interesting application--I repaired old brick foundation that had very thin, rotten mortar. I used a worn out wood blade between the bricks, the old mortar just fell out. Totally ruined the blade, but I sailed through the mortar like butter and most of the debris fell out, so clean up was a couple of quick blasts of air and I was ready to tuckpoint.

I would recomend the tool a lot quicker if the blades were reasonable, but tool not a good choice because of operating cost.

 "Speciality Tool" 2009-01-31

If you have the specific need for this blade, it works great. They do wear out pretty quick, but like most Multi Master tools, they are built for specific tasks and get the job done when conventional methods & tools don't work.

 "Effective but fragile" 2008-12-16
By Mainstream consumer (N CA)
This blade cuts through wood like a hot knife through butter, but it is extremely fragile. I actually shattered mine when changing blades, not in actual use. The spring loaded mounting system snapped shut on the blade and it broke into several fragments. I own a lot of expensive tools and I take care not to abuse them, so I don't think this was a case of gross operator error. Disappointing for such an expensive blade.
