"Milwaukee Tools the best there is at this price." 2009-09-07

I own a large selection of Milwaukee tools and a few Hilti tools. IMO, getting Milwaukee products are like getting Hilti products for a little less money. However, if you work in punishing, demanding conditions everyday, all day, then Hilti may be the way to go for the very long haul. For 90%, Milwaukee is a good bet

"Cut wood and nails like butter" 2009-07-14
By Michael Newlon (CA, USA)
Love these blades. Sawzalls are usually used in spots where other saws that will cut straighter and smoother can't reach. Because of this you don't want to spend all day in this awkward spot. I have never been so pleased with my saw using these blades. They last longer and cut so well that it's like using a completely different saw. I just installed a larger window in an existing wall. I cut through several studs with nails on a wall attached to plywood. Each stud took less than a minute, I cut straight and left the plywood undamaged. Buy these blades!

 "Fantastic Demo Blades!" 2009-04-28
By MilesToGo
I've been using these blades for around 5 years. These are fantastic, durable demo blades. They will chew through wood or steel. Unlike a previous reviwer, I find these blades are very easy to do plunge cuts with. They won't bend if you run the tip into something (unlike most similar blades). While doing residential demo work, I have litterally plunge cut into a wall and cut through the entire wall..removing it in a single piece. The only thing they won't cut is masonry/stone.

I can't say enough good about these blades. They have saved me lots of time and many headaches.

"Stump remover blades! (can't cut rocks though)" 2009-02-04
By G. Powell (Seattle, WA USA)
I bought a package of these blades to use to help cut the roots on a stump of a tree in my yard. The good news is that the stump is out. The bad it took 2 blades to do the trick. Ice hardened or not, the blades don't cut rocks. The teeth are still there but they are not sharp. These blades have a 5 year warranty, but I don't see how they'd last that long... Back to my story, when I hit a small rock, sparks flew, dirt spewed, roots still cut though.

Anyway I have a 12amp sawzall with a variable speed orbital cut (1 + 1/8th) and the sawzall was up to the job. Given these blades, there is not much that will stop you.

The nice thing is that these blades did not bend, or bind. If you are pruning, I'd go for the pruning blades though rather than these. And they are a little big on the tip & long for a plunge cut into a 2x4 without drilling a hole to start.

"Works perfectly for it's job" 2009-04-23
By Chris G. (California)
Great design on the case. Holds my 18V cordless saw, 2 batteries, and a charger. Has a blade storage section in the bottom of the case below the saw. Even has a slot in the lid to store the available rip fence. It is deeper than you'd expect, as another reviewer noted.

1 star off for 2 things. First, the blade storage has a post molded into the bottom of the case - but the nut that screws the blades down was missing when I got it. A call to the Milwaukee tech line (their general support line had no indication of this part) got me 2 mailed out immediately. Second, unlike the sawzall and drill cases, there is no slot for the manual. Not a big deal since I don't even refer to the manual and could just chuck it, but I do prefer to keep them with the tools. Right now it's folded in half and shoved in the spare battery section.

Definitely does it's intended job.

 "Almost perfect" 2009-01-04
By R. Skulavik (Lynchburg, VA)
This case for Milwaukee's cordless circular saws is almost perfect; deeper than you think by the picture (approx 11") molded very well to the V18 battery, the charger, and the saw. It has a blade nut to keep extra blades in the case under the saw. I had to deduct 1 star because Milwaukee changed the handle design from a 1-1/4 diameter 4-pinion contact (4 contact points to the case) to a 2-pinion 3/4" diameter handle. Physics tells us that a 4-pinion handle design will take more stess on the handle than the 2-pinion design given the same pinion diameter which is the case. Why did milwaukee change the design? Don't know--but the Chineese designer probably thought it was a good idea. NOT.

 "Great Case" 2008-12-03
By Everett A. Warren (Northeast PA United States)
This case is an excellent fit and protects the saw, battery, charger, and more.

I do notice that, with the V28 at least, you need to lower the cutting height before the case will close ~ not a big deal, just something to be aware of, and something that reveals the close fit needed to keep the saw from bouncing around too much on the back of a truck.

 "Very nice case" 2007-02-06
By Angus (Naperville, IL)
This is another quality product from Milwaukee. Shame the review (stars) don't reflect this. The quality of this case has NOTHING to do with whether it comes in a combo pack or not.

The case is sturdy and fits the saw, 1 battery and a charger. The clasps are nice and easy to open. I have a few other brands of tools with hard cases that you need the hands of a 10 year old to be able to open. Milwaukee was smart enough to design latches that someone with larger hands can open easily.

If you dropped the cash on the saw, this is definitely worth it to protect your investment.

"Wish I had this set long ago" 2009-11-02
By W. Lowe
I've owned a few of those smaller sets and while helpful, I never seemed to have the size I needed. Ended up drilling a hole too big or too small and having to enlarge it. With this set, I always have the size I need, all the way up to 4-3/4". There's a good chance that I will never use several sizes in the set, but I know that if I need it, it's there.

The hole saws are very sharp and stay sharp, compared to others I've owned from Bosch, Dewalt, Lenox and Ace Hardware. It comes with extra pilot bits which is a plus. Also, really like the plastic case, everything fits well and stays in place.

I would definitely but this set again, but have a feeling I won't have to. I'll just replace dull hole saws as necessary.

"Milwaukee 28 piece All Purpose Hole Saw Kit" 2009-10-02
By Sticks (Veedersburg, Indiana)
I ordered this kit due to needing a couple different sized hole saw cutters to put in some dead bolts. I had purchased Milwaukee cutters prior to this but just purchased the individual cutter for the job at hand. I did decide to buy the 28 piece kit because I liked the idea of having all my cutters in 1 easy container to carry to a job and believe this kit will contain every cutter I will ever need. It does. It has every cutter size I needed and probably ever will need. The container is well built and appealing. I didn't know how the drive system to the cutters had changed since I purchased my last individual cutter. The new system has threads in the base of the cutter with 2 pins that are threaded into the cutter from the drive shaft that holds the drill bit. This is the best system I've seen. I also believe these cutters will take many cuts through metal or wood before beginning to dull. Its a lot of money but its probably the last hole saw kit you will ever need unless you use them daily. I'm very satisfied with this kit.

I needed a 4 3/4" hole saw for a floor outlet box. I needed a 2 1/8" hole saw for a lockset. Found both sizes and many more in this collection.

Both times that I have used these saws, I was impressed.

For the money, I did not find a better selection of sizes.

Both large and small chucks are included and the case organizes things wonderfully.

I don't believe that anyone with a need for multiple sizes would be disappointed in this set.

 "Very Nice Set" 2009-04-06
By S. Crane (Tinley Park, IL)
I haven't used every size yet, but they all seem very sharp and the case is quite heavy-duty. The only thing I was let down about was the "case has space for more hole saws" part. There is a small storage space in the top of the case that can fit (3) 1-1/4ish hole saws. You CAN NOT fit any size larger that what is supplied in the case. I bought a 2-3/4" and 3" to finish the set off, but neither will fit in the case, but I didn't think it was fair to deduct a star for that. Overall I'm very satisfied with what I got for the price.

My frustration with Amazon continues; I have about a 50/50 chance of being disappointed with purchasing thru Amazon for a variety of reasons. Poor or lack of an accurate product description is just another.

Otherwise, I'm sure these blades are of good quality and the rating is not meant to be indicative of Milwaukee's reputation. On the other hand, if Milwaukee came up with the name of "Ice Edge Sawzall Blade Set", then they deserve part of the blame.

By the way, the Milwaukee 48-08-0401 Quik-Lok Job Saw is a very nice hand saw that uses standard sawzall blades, has a quick-blade-change (no-tool required), a soft grip handle, and threaded end for extension pole; it's a 5-star item.

"Does not fit "older" sawzall type tools...." 2008-05-09
By Pancho
I gave this 1 star because I didn't get to actualy use this blade; it won't fit in my Porter Cable tool....read on for explanation.

I have an older model Porter Cable "sawzall" type tool [model 737] with it's "quick change" mechanism. Over the years, I have used various Milwaukee blades in this tool. I bought a set of these blades, item #48-00-5021, but found they wouldn't fit in my Porter Cable tool. I tried 3 of the 5 blades in the package. So I called "Milwaukee Tool..." and asked them if there was a manufacturing change. They confirmed the newer "AX" and "Torch" blade models are indeed thicker and will NOT fit some older models of not only their sawzall. They still offer for sale blades that are slightly thinner; so if you have an older recipricating saw, you'll probably need the Milwaukee blade model "48-00-5031". The "newer" blades are .062 thick; "older" blades are .050 thick.

 "Thicker and stronger" 2007-12-17
By Andrea F (NJ United States)
These blades are simply the best you can get bar none. You can do alot more work with your sawzall with these than you can with the cheaper blades because they last longer and are more resistant to bending.( a common occurance when making a plunge cut)As a result, you will spend less time changing blades and/or attempting to bend those cheap blades back into a useable shape.

These blades are standard issue with the milwaukee 11 amp orbital sawzall I just got. They also give you a blade called the torch, that is like the ax, except it cuts metal

"Blades live up to their name" 2006-02-26
By Marco Brico (Gap, France)
I've been using The Ax blades while renovating buildings in France and take pleasure while zipping through 300 year old beams. The blades cut best with an orbital action, but still work well with a regular straight push-pull action. I've cut through 12" diameter Larch beams embedded with heavy square spikes, plenty of fir (sapin) structural wood, tons of soft and hardwood pallets, and lately Birch and Oak firewood. The only material that dulls them rapidly is brick, but even then, they do cut through brick! My consumption rate is about 4 blades per year of each of the 6", 9", and 12" sizes when not cutting through brick. These blades will cut through any wood framed building material and you don't have to worry about them bending over if you smash the tip into something solid. I'm convinced that you can also grind the teeth off them and make steak knife blades with them when they're dull, as described in a 1950's Popular Mechanics book using old hacksaw blades. Ironically, the Milwaukee 48-08-0401 Quik-Lok Job Saw would make a fine handle. Five stars all the way.

 "Very durable blades" 2000-02-11
By Brad Archer (USA)
This is the toughest blade that I have come across. I work in plastics plant and we use sawzalls to cut up the nonconforming product to be reworked. I have tried several blades and they all bend and break. These blades are made from a thicker metal and can stand up to some real rough treatment. If you are hard on blades, these are the ones for you.

"Better than the Avanti blade" 2008-04-01
By Remodeling in SoCal (Monrovia, CA United States)
Little selection in the 6.5" 40th blades. The Milwaukee blade is the best for the money as the large slots in the Freud Avanti [only other choice from amazon]can catch edges and has more tearout. I wish Freud would make a Diablo 40th in 6.5".

"Extremely sharp, little tear out, thin kerf requires less power" 2007-11-01
By Victor H. Agresti (Gaithersburg, MD United States)
Milwaukee 48-40-4112 6-1/2-Inch 40 Tooth Finish Saw Blade.

This Milwaukee thin kerf carbide blade cuts through wood products very quickly and with little effort. The carbide tips are as sharp as little razors; there is hardly any tear-out; and the cut-surface is pretty smooth. I've also used the blade on PVC trim and deck boards with great success.

The only negative with ultra thin kerf blades such as this one, is they bend much easier than standard width blades. I.e., this blade doesn't always work well with a saw guide, because the thin blade can get off-track to one side or the other and isn't sufficiently stiff to straighten itself if you didn't notice that happening. In other words, you're pushing the saw forward, but the blade may have wandered off to one side, messing up the cut. Cutting freehand against a pencil line works just fine, so that's what I usually do. When using saw-guides, you could also just use a corded saw with a stiff blade.

Using these thin kerf blades with a cordless circular saw requires less power, so the battery will last longer.

You should have no qualms about buying one of these first-rate circular saw blades. These fit the Milwaukee V28 cordless circular saw, among others.
